I’m going to become a vegan, what big shoe brands cant i wear?
For example, converses, uggs, and what things in shoes do i have to look out for that will lead me to not being able to buy them?
There aren’t really any certain brands, because most have both vegan & non-Vegan Shoes. I try to stay away from most of the big brand names anyway (unless I buy them second-hand), because they don’t use fair labor.
The only things to look out for are leather, suede, any kind of animal skin, etc. If a shoe is not animal sourced, the tag or imprint will usually say "man-made materials", or cotton, hemp, vinyl, poly-suede…whatever material it is. Payless usually has a lot of vegan-friendly shoes. But, with any shoes that you buy in a regular/popular shoe store or department store, the glue used is usually not vegan. You can find 100% vegan shoes online, but they’re usually pretty pricey. If you like a Chuck Taylor kind of style, I would recommend MacBeth. They have 100% vegan shoes similar in style & they aren’t much more expensive than Chucks.
I recognize that you don’t want to wear leather or any shoe whose manufacture involves animal products, but being vegan is about what you eat, not what you wear.
You should be okay with Converse, since it’s cotton canvas and rubber.

Leather. If the shoe is made out of leather it will be on the label/tag.

You don’t have to avoid any specific brand. Just look at the label. The label will tell you if they’re made of leather, or man made materials.
I wear Converse, usually.
It might be a good idea to check out how the company treats it’s workers too. In some of those factories, they’re really not treated much better than the animals.

Vegan has to do with diet, not leather free shoes. Just Google cruelty free shoes.
