The Best Non Leather Shoes
I think this is the best idea I have come across in a long time.
First let me ask, what makes Non Leather Shoes the best? What makes a Vegan Shoe worth buying? Is it comfort, design, or color? The answer to those questions is of course up to you. Your taste and your sense of style. Those are things that make your shoes the best.
Buy a pair of non leather shoes and a pair gets donated to a needy child – THAT’S WHAT I CALL A GREAT SHOE!
For every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One. TOMSshoes.com That’s a WIN WIN in my book. These are the hottest shoes out there. How do I know that? These are the shoes of choice for my young adult kids and their friends. When I found out that this company donates a pair of shoes for every pair sold, I stopped in my tracks and said “wow what a fantastic and easy way to give.” I felt I had to help spread the word and see what I could do to get some shoes donated to children who need them.
Are you aware of the diseases and parasites children in developing countries are exposed to? A donated pair of shoes can help protect these children from Hookworm and Schistosoma parasites not to mention many other nasty microbes.
Shoes have come a long way in the last few years. Long gone are the days of non leather shoes looking like plastic. You can easily find great vegan style shoes at TOMS Shoes!
This has got to be the easiest way to make a difference in the world. You’re giving to children in need and not harming any animals while you do it.
If you are thinking “But I need heels.” Don’t worry, they have them. You know high heel shoes are designed to make a womens leg appear longer and more attractive. Non Leather Shoes – Ethics V Cruelty
I have learned a couple things doing this Non Leather Shoes blog. I have also run into some things that raise questions in my mind. Ethics V Cruelty. Ethical treatment of animals as compared to cruelty to animals. What is ethical treatment of animals?
I don’t think we as a culture or people need to use leather to cover our feet anymore. Now, I’m not a vegan and until recently didn’t even really understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian. What I find curious is when perusing the internet I often find articles about let’s say a Vegan Shoe or vegan clothes, that almost always mention something about the ethical treatment of animals. I don’t notice that in the non leather shoes or leather free articles.
That got me to thinking about the ethical treatment of animals. I watched an episode of “Bones” not too long ago, the plot was centered around a chicken factory, that got me thinking about it some more. While some things stand out and scream unethical others are not so clear. I don’t think cruelty and ethics go hand in hand all the time either. Cruelty free non leather shoes is a good thing, but what about cruelty free leather shoes? Let’s say a farmer has a cow that is treated well. It is allowed to graze and is fed and cared for. The farmer is rewarded for taking care of the cow by getting milk and other by-products he can use. When the cow dies of natural causes. Is it unethical to use the hide for leather? I don’t think it is.
Cruelty in my mind is pretty straight forward, ethics on the other hand has some gray area. I think non leather shoes, and animal free clothing is the way to go. You would think we are evolved enough to take a few more steps away from the cave. A leather or fur coat today is the same as it was 2000 years ago, better looking because of technology and craftsmanship perhaps, but still just an animal hide. 2000 years ago there was a need to wear animal hides, not today.

Choices in Non Leather Shoes
Boat shoes and sneakers, that’s what we use to call non leather shoes back in my day. Now it’s vegan sneakers or some other more sheikh name. No matter what you call them, there are so many styles today as compared to just a few years ago, that everyone I know has at least one pair of leather free shoes. Most are of the casual Vegan Shoe style. Not at all surprising considering that there was a the lack of choices for anything other than casual shoes. That just is not the case any longer.
Non Leather Shoes have come out of the dark ages. A vegan shoe can be a dress shoe for the office or a winter boot for the snow. Shoes.com has many brands, brands like Earth, J-41, Cogent and MERRELL to name just a few. Today you can find just as many styles as brands. You are not limited to just Keds or Converse as I was way back in the day. There are Reebok, Calvin Klien even Carlos Santana shoes. Love his music too. Vegan sneakers, sandals, canvas shoes, whatever your taste or whatever your need, there are some non leather shoes that are sure to please you. For casual shoes, Toms Shoes has the buy one, give one donation program that I think is great. Because you will need more than just casual shoes I have added a couple other links to sites with more leather free shoes or not to choose from. Shoes.com and SKECHERS. Because they don’t have the buy one, give one, I will donate 10% of the proceeds from those links to the CFC. The more you shop, the bigger the donations. So buy some non leather shoes.

Good foot hygiene is important, daily washing with soap and water followed by thorough drying. Wear dry airy shoes and socks help keep the feet dry. When using public showers and pool areas user protective footwear, a good shower show or flip-flop. Dry airy shoes and flip-flops, sounds like Non Leather Shoes to me. Toenail Fungus. You pick this up pretty much the same way you do athlete’s foot. About ½ of us will get it by age 70. It is more difficult to treat, so prevention is the key. Prevention is similar as well with the added recommendation of not wearing nail polish on the toes.
Protective shoes such as sandals and shower shoes when you are in public pool areas and public showers and locker rooms. Wearing dry airy shoes and socks is recommended. These are all types of non leather shoes and vegan sneakers. The sandals and flip-flops are more about protection from picking up the fungus. Technology is wonderful.
